nostalgia [announcement] [september 18th, 7:30pm]

The first VIBES concert (Tuesday, September 18th) carries the theme of "Nostalgia", and will take place in room 309c of the Conservatory building. Linked below is our poster for the event!

Nostalgia is defined by the Oxford Dictionary as "a sentimental longing or wistful affection for a period in the past". For the VIBES staff, the very idea of Nostalgia reminds us of cartoons and videogames that we played when we were very young.

Linked here you can see the suggested materials for this date. It consists of retro videogame soundfonts and royalty free Hanna Barbara cartoon sound effects. This is how we chose to interpret the idea of "Nostalgia", but any interpretation of "Nostalgia" or these materials is encouraged, and all pieces are welcome for submission! There will also be a short reception following.

This is our first concert and we are so excited to collaborate with other Peabody students in a venue that inspires freedom on our composition. If you are interested in being involved, please contact the VIBES staff at VIBESpeabody@gmail.com. If you are interested in having your composition showcased, please contact VIBES by Tuesday, September 4th (the same date as our Reception!)  Every event is free and we hope to see you there. It's going to get loud! :)
